Abstract
The occurrence of anatomical complexities during Root Canal Treatment often poses a great challenge in terms of management. Such variations, if not treated meticulously could lead to catastrophic failure of the adopted treatment approach. A thorough pre-operative evaluation has been attributed to the prevention of ‘missed’ canals. The persistence of microbiota within these ‘missed’ canals could be a causative factor for post treatment disease. The maxillary molar typically presents with 4 canals: Two mesiobuccal (MB and MB2), one distobuccal (DB) and one palatal (P). The following case report describes an endodontic intervention for a maxillary molar with the presence of an ‘extra’ palatal canal.
Keywords: Extra Palatal canal, Anatomic variation, Endodontic treatment
